Pierre Tourville was born in Trois-Rivières. He started his viola studies there, before pursuing them at the Conservatoire de Montréal, where he obtained first prize in viola and chamber music in the class of Robert Verebes. He also went to the New England Conservatory to study with Marcus Thompson. He is very active in the musical life of Montreal, playing regularly with the Montreal, Trois-Rivières and Laval Symphony Orchestras. He is also an active member of the Ensemble Appassionata and the Ensemble Contemporain de Montréal. Since 2002 he has been a full time member and principal Choir Director of the Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal.
