Vladimir Landsman, violinist, received his formal training at the Central Music School and the Conservatory in Moscow. In 1963, he won third prize in the Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris, and in 1966, first prize in the Montreal International Competition. Since then, he has enjoyed an international career as a soloist, both before and after his emigration from Russia in 1973. In the early 90's, Mr. Landsman visited Russia where he was one of the first Soviet emigré artists to be invited to return to perform a concert in the Bolshoi Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the most prestigious venue in the country. He is currently a professor of violin at the University of Montreal.
